We are the Saxe family, yes, the ones that have moved more times than years they have been married, hey we are hitting 16 years of marriage this coming January, WOW. We have 4 lovely children, not that I would brag but all my friends tell me so. Sierra is turning 13 on Thursday, the 23rd of October, Andrea is 11 and is a May 12 baby, Timmy will hit 9 on January 4th, and Theodore will be 6 on March 26th.
We have lived in Spain since January 2008 and live in Southern Spain. We are working as church planting missionaries. Right now, we are studying Spanish to perfeccionarlo (get it better). Mary is home schooling our 4 kids and doing a fabulous job at it. We sent our kids to school to finish out the last school year. This helped them all greatly to get a functioning level of Spanish but as we have changed gears this year and have returned to Home Schooling, we have run into issues of the local authorities saying this is illegal. There are three thousand home schoolers in Spain and it is not illegal. Yet, we find that not all of life flows as smoothly as it could, especially in respect to gov’t.
Today, we had a school rep stop by to check things out, she left quite impressed and yet had to inform us that we may be getting more social service visits. We are starting to get used to the reality that living abroad can bring endless challenges. So, we press on firm in our conviction that we are doing what is right.
So, a quick glimpse of the current Saxe family profile from Dad’s view.
Maria Michelle, (Mary for you americans) loves horses, our dog Alley, nature, good coffee, biking, and kisses from her family. She appreciates natural health, enjoys reading to the kids, is fascinated by the beauty of nature and really enjoys a one on one long chat with a good friend.
Me, I like biking, photography (no end of interesting subject matter in Spain) COFFEE, especially a good cafe con leche, spanish style (no 20 oz. americanos here.) Coffee is enjoyed sitting in a cafe or at home, not in the car and certainly not while walking about. I am trully captivated by the beauty of my wife, love to watch my kids sleep at night (huh, inactive?) no, peaceful! Relish one on one time with all of them, and I love to make up stories for them as they settle in for bed. I may have to try and record some of them. Timmys favorite is of 2 brothers named Timmy and Theo who work real hard on a ranch, have their own work quads and find themselves doing good deeds, making money by the sweat of their brow and learning about God. But then there is Jude, the son of a merchant marine from the 1700′s who converted his merchant ship into a trojan horse (ship) that carried 5 cannons and was the Spanish gov’ts answer to dealing with the pirates that were having their way with the commercial vessels of the day.
Sierra, a true ballerina at heart. She even tries to play soccer like a ballerina, landing perfectly on one toe after booting the ball. (you might duck and cover though). She is an avid reader, budding artist, budding musician, she is learning the Violin Cello, enjoys the Violin and has composed several pieces on the piano.
Andrea is outgoing, clever and ready for an acting career. Loves playing with her neighborhood friends, would not throw anything away if we allowed it. Loves animals especially expensive cats at the pet store that Daddy won’t buy her. She and her sister also are horse lovers. Avid reader, she will excel at whatever she wants in life.
Timmy, it’s all about horsepower!! Dirt bikes, Quads, BMX bikes, Trucks, Tractors, yes he is the one that ran off and started a John Deere riding mower at 2 years old. His favorite past time is bike riding, he is always asking if he can go out for a ride. He is also the most extravert of the family. During his school days, he had more friends at the public school than any Spaniard there and from almost all grade levels. We would often hear, “Timoteo!!!!!!” as we walk through town or a grocery store. He is headed for stardom of some sort. (at least in his fathers world).
And then there is Theodore, a genuine sweet heart. He is The-adorable one. I think he gets more photos than the rest of them combined, sorry, honest truth. Just learned to ride without training wheels, he is off and racing. He is very gentle and loves animals, he will give loads of love to almost any stray dog walking down the street. Our dog Allegria gets regularly smothered.
So, thats the Saxe family. I guess my wife and kids would protest and declare me insensitive if I didn’t give Alegria a word or two. so, to keep home peace, she is a nice dog unless she is chewing something to pieces like another pair of underwear or or or…….. But really she is a walking eyeless shag carpet of a dear sweet girl. She reminds me of a Chocolate that got dropped on the floor in the brown yarn room with a veracious appetite for whatever she finds on the floor. Oh I better stop, before I get in trouble.
Then there’s Crockett, Ally’s sidekick. Everything is wag, wag, wag and lick, lick, lick on his side of the car, both dogs enjoy sticking their heads out the window on slow roads. He loves chewing on everything Ally was chewing on-before he took it away from her. Maria calls him an “old english gentleman” for his long face and sophisticated look.
Okay, that is the lot of us, there you go. Now that I have bored you with us, what about you, tell me, how are you, it is your turn to say something. Writing this makes me feel like I am being a conversation hog. Tell me, how are you??????
